History
- Part of the new 1895 gold coinage (2, 5, 10, 20 pesos) introduced "reflecting the lower gold standard".
- Obverse: Liberty head left wearing a Phrygian cap, "REPUBLICA DE CHILE"; reverse: the Chilean arms — plumed shield supported by a crowned huemul (deer) and a condor — "DIEZ PESOS So 1895".
- Context: the earlier 1867–1892 10-pesos gold weighed 15.253 g at .900 fine — the 1895 type is the visible product of Chile’s gold-standard devaluation.
